Carlos Alba makes the leap from journalist to PR man with launch of his new business Carlos Alba Media.

Carlos Alba Media is based on the south side of the city, but the founder is looking to secure Glasgow city centre premises and Alba is currently in discussion with three clients, however Alba declined to outline their details until terms are signed.

As well as being Scotland editor at the Sunday Times, Alba has also previously been education correspondent at The Herald and chief reporter at the Edinburgh Evening News.

Speaking of the new launch venture, he said: "Having spent 20 years in newspapers, working for a succession of employers, I feel the time is right to move in another direction and to bring my experience and creativity to my own venture. My aim is to build a portfolio of clients who can benefit from my contacts and experience, in business, the media, politics and education.

"Having worked for a group that's at the forefront of the move from print to online and social media I'm better equipped than most to offer modern and comprehensive communications advice. In an industry that seems highbound in jargon, I hope to be able to bring a bit of straight talking. Put simply I want to help my clients reach their customers efficiently."

Alba is also in talks with another Glasgow city centre-based PR consultancy, Real PR headed up by Ilya Scott, about forming a working relationship on a number of projects.
