The Royal Bank of Scotland is said to be reviewing its £132m media planning and buying account, currently held by MediaCom, with a view to staging a procurement based brief as part of a costing exercise.

RBS, which counts NatWest, Direct Line, Churchill and Privilege Insurance amongst its staple, is said to be involved in negotiations with the agency.

MediaCom won the lucrative RBS offline account in 2000 following a six month pitch process and extended this to include online interests in 2006.

The agency were involved recently in promoting NatWest during channel Five’s 2010 cricket coverage and high profile sponsorship of both the Williams Formula 1 team and Six nations rugby tournament.

Also affected by the review are M&C Saatchi who handle the majority of NatWest's television campaigns
