The Wedgwood Museum has appointed Primo PR as its public relations consultancy.

Primo PR will manage an ongoing national and regional footfall driving campaign for the museum to attract visitors to its facilities in Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent.

Gaye Blake Roberts, director and trustee of the Wedgwood Museum, said: “We have made a significant investment in creating a modern museum facility that is custom built to both display our impressive collections and provide a welcoming environment for all. The task now is to put the Wedgwood Museum on the map as a destination for those with an interest in Wedgwood, ceramics, art, social and industrial history and of course people of all ages looking for a stimulating day out.”

Cheryl Davies, director of Primo PR, added: “Most people have quite strong preconceived ideas about museums, and a ceramics museum especially is often perceived by many to be a place where there can be little interaction because of the delicate nature of the displays. The new Wedgwood Museum though has been designed to be family friendly and get people more involved with the exhibits and the Wedgwood family story. Our role will be to communicate this message to open up the potential audience for the museum and boost visitor numbers.”
