The memorable goal celebration that introduced the world to Ryan Giggs's chest rug has been recreated in a new ad to promote the Manchester United credit card.

The ad, shot a stone's throw from Old Trafford, shows a United fan so moved by the card and its rewards that he is compelled to reenact Giggs's topless celebration after his mesmerising goal against Arsenal in the 1999 FA Cup semi final.

It was created by Cheshire agency Origin and breaks this week on United's own television station MUTV.

Lifelong Red and Origin creative director, Matt Casey, said: "Any diehard United fan will be instantly familiar with the feelings of joy that the Giggs celebration conveys. We thought it was a great (if slightly over the top) way to convey how fantastic the United Card’s membership privileges are. By putting the two together we’ve underlined that issue — and hopefully raise a smile in the process”.
