Edinburgh Festival venue Pleasance has commissioned digital agency Fudge to redevelop its website.

Pleasance operates two venues, in Edinburgh and Islington, and has played host to comedians including Russell Brand, Eddie Izzard, Frank Skinner and Al Murray. During the 2009 Fringe Festival more than 500,000 people attended events hosted by Pleasance.

Bolton-based Fudge will overhaul the website to better promote Pleasance's Fringe events and its year-long programme in London. The agency has also pledged to give the venue the tools to build better relationships with its customers.

The site will feature a new ticketing system, built with ticketing specialists Red 61, and a bespoke content management system.

Tim Groves, head of marketing at Pleasance, said: “Our new website will need to be accessible for our customers, easy to manage by the box office team, and with a design that has been carefully considered to be attractive for our entire user-base."
