Punk PR has been snapped up by globally renowned photographer, Philip Townsend, to manage the international press office around activity including, a new northern venture, world-wide exhibitions and book launches.

Punk will be working alongside Manchester art director, Steve Bridgeman who together with Philip Townsend will form ‘Phil Up North’, a company that aims to reach out with Townsend''s work, beyond the London centric arts world, with an exhibition already confirmed for later this year in the North West.

Punk will be handling the media through traditional PR and social media.

Townsend created some of the world's most iconic celebrity images, capturing The Rolling Stones in their first ever shoot, The Beatles when they met the Maharishi for the very first time and the famous image of Elizabeth Taylor with an estranged Richard Burton in the Palace Hotel Gustav Switzerland.

He has also captured political figures such as Harold Wilson and Winston Churchill. Townsend photographed some of the most beautiful women of all time, such as Charlotte Rampling, Jacqueline Bisset and Grace Kelly (Princess Grace of Monaco) together with early photos of Twiggy.

Townsend commented on the new partnership: “There was an instant chemistry with PUNK PR, their creativity, passion and fresh approach stood out.”

Helen Conyers, director at PUNK said: “Seeing such iconic images of some of the worlds greats sparked instant excitement within the team. Philip is an extraordinary man, with immense talent and an incredible background – to re-introduce him and his work to the world will be an honour."

Philip Townsend will feature in the next issue of French Vogue talking about his experiences and work.
