The COI has announced that it to overhaul its Live events agency framework, worth more than £12m per annum, which will now feature 125 agencies across the UK.

This is the first time that the framework has been reviewed in four years, and the changes will mean that each roster agency has at least one place or more across the ten lots, with over 65% of the agencies having just been appointed to the roster following an evaluation process that involved over 1300 individual applications and the review of thousands of CVs and case studies.

The 10 specialist lots are Live Event Production, Experiential, Creative Design, Development & Management of Events, Exhibitions & Roadshows (excluding conference and conference related activity), Facsimiles, Event Multi Media Production Services, Events Interactive Technology, Audio Visual ( AV) Services, Writing and Transcription Services, Scenic, and Audio Visual System Design and Integration.

The decision to divide the lots by the COI was taken in order to meet the requirements of the Public Contract Regulations 2006 which states that suppliers must be "capable of performing the proposed contract" and are invited to compete for each piece of business. Briefs can be issued across a number of lots and labels as well as single lots and labels, depending on requirements.

The changes will now allow agencies to compete for government and public sector work without the requirement for a lengthy procurement process for every contract.

Simon Hughes, director of Live Events, said:“We had a fantastic response for this review and I really appreciate all the hard work that everyone involved had to put in.

We've extended the range of suppliers on the framework in order to both focus our procurement processes and give our clients greater choice and flexibility.”
