Strathclyde Police has launched its festival safety campaign as it looks to remind those celebrating to have a fun but safe time.

The campaign was devised by Strathclyde Police’s in-house marketing team and will run across radio, adverts, posters, social networking sites and Bluetooth technology in order to get the message of safety across.

The campaign will also look to remind revellers, shoppers and drivers to be vigilant, look after themselves and their property, and not to drink and drive over the Christmas period.

Glasgow guerilla marketing company Kommando will be involved through its Pix Angels offering where the agency will enter bars around the city, take pictures of groups celebrating and print them the picture on-the-spot to be used across their social networking sites. This will be accompanied by embedded branding which will include the Strathclyde Police logo and key safety messages.

Radio adverts will be broadcast across Radio Clyde, Smooth and Rock Radio.

Chief Superintendent Bernard Higgins, commander for Glasgow City Centre and West Division, said: "We want to reach as many people as possible to make sure that they have a good time over Christmas and New Year, and enjoy the whole festive experience.

"By getting our safety message across by using the latest technology, and the more traditional methods like posters and radio adverts, we hope to encourage people to plan ahead for their nights out and show that by taking a few simple steps, they can stay safe and remember their time for all the right reasons."
