SKV Communications has won the contract for the United Dance Organisation’s (UDO) World Street Dance Championships 2009 and Michael Jackson Dance Tribute Event.

The championships take place on August 28-30 at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, with international dance crews such as the World Hip-Hop champions, the Philippine Allstars, flying in to the North West to compete.

The weekend will finish with a Michael Jackson dance tribute event featuring Britain’s Got Talent 2009 winners Diversity, as well as 2008 winner George Sampson, Aidan Davies and Signature.

SKV’s work so far has involved helping to secure the services of Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt (pictured) to fly over from LA to judge the championships and attend the MJ dance tribute.

Simon Dibley, CEO of UDO said: “SKV was chosen for its innovative PR ideas and excitement and enthusiasm for the campaign.”

Heather Price, senior account manager at SKV Communications, said: “With Street Dance currently the fastest growing form of dance in the UK and TV shows like Britain’s Got Talent bringing fresh faces into the limelight, it’s really exciting to be working on this project. UDO is the biggest Street Dance organisation in Europe and we’re delighted to be involved.”

UDO has events running internationally in the UK, Europe, Africa, USA and Asia. The competition is now in its fourth year.
