Fuse8 has worked with UK Trade and Investment and British Airways on a website offering small firms £15m of free flights to help boost their overseas sales.

The airline is offering a total of 4,000 international return flights for UK-based SME customers which they can apply for at www.ukan.uktradeinvest.gov.uk, the site built by Leeds-based Fuse8.

It is hoped the initiative will help UK business owners travel to foreign trade fairs and create commercial opportunities by meeting potential clients in person.

Zoe Ward, the Fuse8 account director for UK Trade and Investment, said creating the website was a "complicated project" involving a variety of private and public sector organisations all with their own range of requirements.

She said: "We have developed a robust solution which provides the ideal platform for the delivery of this combined government and the private sector initiative.

"The free British Airways flights scheme creates a superb opportunity for SMEs to develop business overseas and we are very pleased to be playing our part in the project.”
