A network made up of 43 colleges in Scotland are set to launch a marketing campaign to raises awareness to businesses the support that is provided by the colleges.

The campaign, created by Scotland’s College’s internal communications team, will roll out from 27 April with a radio commercial.

The Big Partnership has been tasked with raising awareness of the campaign.

Both the campaign and the newly launched Business to College awards are being backed by the Federation of Small Businesses in Scotland and, as part of an existing three year development programme running until July 2010, the Scottish Funding Council is providing funding worth £5 million per annum for colleges to further develop their support services to businesses across Scotland.

Glen Cook, head of marketing and business development, Scotland’s Colleges, explained: “This marketing initiative is designed to bring colleges across Scotland together to promote and maximise what they can offer to the business community.

“It is also about encouraging businesses to engage with colleges and use their skills, knowledge base and resources to meet their business objectives.

“Knowledge transfer – where colleges work in partnership with a business to take them through a step change process – has been around for a while, but it needs to be expanded so that colleges can demonstrate their range of skill and resources which can add value to businesses.”
