Newcastle-based agency Gardiner Richardson has made five redundancies, The Drum has learned.

Director Lucy Gardiner explained that the agency had withdrew the posts - which are spread across the business - as a response to the current economic downturn.

She said: “The market has changed very quickly and as a responsible business we have proactively responded by putting our significant long-term growth plan on hold in line with the slowing economy – this has regrettably led to reviewing staffing levels.

“Naturally, our team is our greatest asset and the decision to review posts was not taken lightly. However, having carefully considered a number of alternative approaches, making this difficult decision will place us in the right position to lead the agency through these challenging times.

“We are actively supporting all those affected to secure employment.”

She added that the agency would 'resume its plans for growth' as soon as the economic timing is right.

The agency currently employs 28 members of staff across PR, design, digital media and advertising.
