The Dalmore, Whyte & Mackay’s 50 year old expression of the vintage malt brand is to be released on limited edition with only 191 bottles being made available to luxury retailers.

The recommended retail price of the rarest units will be set at £700 per unit and is packaged using hand-blown, Portuguese crystal decanters.

Another 50 bottles will be made sold through the travel retail sector and will come with a limited edition, numbered, silver neck tag.

Richard Paterson, The Dalmore's master distiller Richard Paterson, commented: “I believe we are the only distillery which has the depth of stock to create such a long loved and nurtured whisky as this.”

He continued by highlighting the growth in the number of people purchased whisky as an investment around the world: “Whisky generally is becoming scarce as we face unprecedented demand around the world, particularly from emerging economies like Russia, China and India. It makes unique expressions like the 50 year old even more valuable. You will get a better return on your investment with whisky than you can with some of the iconic first growth wines of France”.

“My advice would be to buy two decanters. Drink one and enjoy drinking a whisky steeped in flavour and history, and then watch the value of the one you keep grow and grow,” claimed Paterson.
