Whitespace has announced the departure of two of its founding directors.Don Galloway, managing director, and Carol Coulter, design director, have left the agency the

Their departure marks the culmination of two years’ planning which will see remaining founding director Russell Stout and three other board members, Phillip Lockwood-Holmes, Iain Valentine and Emma Jardine taking equal ownership of the company.

"Whitespace has been my life for the past 11 years,” said Galloway “but both Carol and I feel that the time is right to move on and do something different with our lives – while we still have the energy!

"We have proudly seen Whitespace grow into one of the leading design and digital agencies in Scotland and have helped put in place a new management team that will take the company on to even greater heights."

“With strong leadership and an already excellent workforce, Carol and I will

leave Whitespace in good hands."

Whitespace creative director Iain Valentine said: “It is both an exciting time and a challenging one, we are all delighted that this plan has come to fruition

on such good terms. The team were told at last year’s Christmas party and as such, apart from the emotional absence of Don and Carol it is business as usual, and there is very little change operationally."

Iain Valentine will remain as creative director, Russell Stout will also remain as digital media director, Phillip Lockwood Holmes becomes head of digital and Emma Jardine moves to the position of client services director. As part of the transition, the team at Whitespace has been strengthened and restructured to better suit its mix of brand identity, print design, web design and build and the increasing drive towards online marketing and online advertising.

Whitespace now boasts a content team, consisting of a senior writer, search specialist (natural and PPC), digital media producer, flash animator and full time proofreader. This team works alongside the existing account management, creative, artwork and digital production teams.

The last year has seen several great online campaigns produced for the Scottish Government, NHS Health Scotland and Bank of Scotland Corporate, as well as integrated brand identity and on and offline material produced for Valtti, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Russell Europe and Scottish Natural Heritage.
