Design and architecture team People in Space has created the new look for Wig & Pen bar and dining rooms in Sheffield's Paradise Square.

Set in the Georgian ‘architectural gem’, the re-modelled Wig & Pen Bar and Dining Rooms, sits between the city’s law and accountancy firms.

The expansion of the Wig & Pen began earlier in the year and took the existing bar and restaurant through into Paradise Square via two red-bricked terraces.

Architect and design team Malcolm Schooling and Basil Smith of People in Space have maintained Georgian undercurrents – right down to the original 1780’s flagstones on parts of the Dining Room’s floor – when it came to floor plans in the split-level building.

The original bar area spills through into the extension allowing casual lounge dining and drinking. Schooling and Smith have taken the space on the bar level and created a versatile environment, carrying the transition of the extension, focusing on a multi-faceted viewing level overlooking Paradise Square complete with antique fireplace and adjoining panelled snug room.

Polished french oak flooring and delicate hues matched with feature wallpaper hand-made by Farrow & Ball lends the areas to bespoke events.

Wig & Pen comes under the umbrella of Nosh-Bars Ltd with Malcolm Schooling as managing director and founding director of the company. He is also founding partner of People In Space, a design and architecture practice established in 1996.
