Following the confirmation last month by the client that Martin Tate Redheads (MTR) had won the ScS Sofas advertising account, the agency has said that it is important to have brought the business back to the North East.

The Drum was able to confirm rumours of the Newcastle agency’s appointment at the beginning of September, with the account moving from McCann Ericsson Communications in Manchester.

The deal, reported to be worth around £10million, was picked up following a three month tender process and six way pitch.

It is understood that the first work including a TV campaign will launch in the autumn.

Howard Tait, managing director, said: “The client wanted a full service agency with fresh ideas in a tough and competitive market. The combination of our strong retail background and creative ideas meant we were able to provide ScS with a fresh campaign.

“It’s a great credit to our experience in national media, creative and business nous that we can bring such an important client back to the North East.”

David Knight, ScS chief executive, said: “MTR offered retail and media expertise, along with a track record of creative success and a real enthusiasm to work with us. We have been through some difficult times but there is now a real buzz going forward.”
