Chris Lloyd leaves Dinosaur?

Mark Beaumont, the agency’s joint creative director, would not confirm or deny the news when approached for comment. However, speculation is mounting that Lloyd has either already left the firm or will be leaving in the coming weeks.

The two founders are believed to be equal partners in the business, and the nature of any potential buyout for Lloyd’s shares remains unclear at this stage.

The former-TBWA creative’s departure could open the door for the agency’s chief executive, Grant Mercer, to take a more hands-on role with the business.

Mercer had been a stalwart of the agency scene, and along with co-founder Martin Kemp, sold on the MKP agency to TBWA\Manchester in 2002. He had a spell as chief executive of TBWA\Manchester’s sister agency Tequila\Manchester, but left the business in 2005 after famously claiming the region did not hold any opportunities for him.

After a stint working for Cable and Wireless in the Caribbean, Mercer returned to the north west and joined Dinosaur last Autumn. Working on a part-time basis, his appointment was intended to free Lloyd and Beaumont to focus on the agency’s creative output.

Dinosaur was launched in 1999.
