The Manchester Publicity Association is hosting a summit of UK pub clubs this Friday, to discuss the future of the organisations and investigate ways in which they can cooperate.

Organisations including the Edinburgh, Glasgow, Yorkshire and Birmingham associations have been invited to attend the event which will discuss the future roles of the organisations and investigate ways in which they can cooperate.

The pub club movement has been in steep decline in recent years. Organisations in cities such as Aberdeen and Liverpool have disappeared, and it is rumoured that Edinburgh might be the next organisation to fold.

Said one commentator: "It is not clear whether this is simply a sign of tough economic trading conditions, or simply the fact that these organisations have had their day."

Publicity associations are best known for organising raucous Christmas lunches, but organisations like the MPA also invest heavily in training.
