Print director admits ‘tough’ times ahead
The closure of the largest printing plant in the Highlands has prompted the head of the Scottish Print Employers federation to admit that this latest closure is indicative of the current Scottish print industry.
Administrators for Nevisprint were unable to find a buyer, despite receiving one offer which, in the end, did not come to fruition.
The plant closed on 23 April, having gone into administration on 26 February meaning the loss of 43 jobs.
Simon Fairclough, director of the Scottish Print Employers Federation, admitted: “Scotland’s printers are facing exceptionally difficult market conditions. It’s really tough.
“Thankfully, there are some success stories out there, but the failure of Nevisprint underlines a pretty unforgiving economic context.”
