Paul Carroll of Zuma011 has taken on a short term consultancy role with Peel Media, which has asked him to assist in planning the marketing strategy for its MediaCity:UK development.

Carroll wouldn’t be drawn on the specifics of his brief, but confirmed the tenure will conclude after the six month period has ended.

The MediaCity:UK site will host the BBC’s presence in Manchester, relocated from London as part of its strategic move to decentralise. Peel is hoping to brand the 200 acre Mediacity development as a regional hub for the media and creative industries.

Carroll confirmed to The Drum that his role involves planning circulating the message via local and national media, and advising Peel on whether the PR should be controlled inhouse or contracted out. However he would not be drawn on how he plans to implement the strategy, or what steps he will take to execute the brief.

Peel declined to comment on Carroll’s appointment, and have not confirmed any details of his brief.

The Drum columnist, whose latest article appears on page 8, is the founder and former chief executive of Communique PR. Carroll established the Manchester and London-based agency as a £3million business, before selling the company to Burson Marstellar in 2001. He left the business in 2004 and returned a year later to launch Zuma011.
