Hull Museums has appointed Leeds-based agency Prego to help educate children about global inter-dependence, citizenship and the importance of Fairtrade products.

Prego has developed an interactive web resource for the museum, which is set to launch at the end of January 2008. It will be used in teacher-led sessions across Yorkshire, in line with the National Curriculum.

Hull Museums commissioned the agency to work from the initial concept and strategy stages through to creative executions, copywriting, animation and production.

Esther Lockwood, project officer for the Global Citizenship Learning Programme at Hull Museums, said: \"Fair Trade products are of huge importance for disadvantaged producers in the developing world. However, this is a tough message to communicate to young children, and the concept of global citizenship can be difficult for young minds to comprehend. An interactive website, however, presents an interesting and new way to learn, and engages with children in ways that traditional teaching methods may struggle to do.\"
