Mediaedge:cia Manchester (MEC) has held off competition from MediaVest Manchester and incumbent David Gent Media to secure the £5million UK Car Group TV planning account.

The media firm will take over the business in autumn and will buy TV space for UK Car Group’s two key brands - Carcraft and uCan Car Credit.

MEC will work directly with UK Car Group’s in-house team, which handles the creative for the advertising.

MEC has also been awarded the Lil-lets £1million media brief. The Drum announced in September that Big Communications, Haslimann Taylor and BPI had been appointed by the feminine hygiene business.

The campaign, which will break in January 2008, is expected to focus on press and outdoor activity.

As part of a strategic review, MEC recently appointed Mark Varley, previously head of digital at All Response Media in Leeds, as its new head of Interaction. Kirsty Donkersley has also joined as sponsorship manager.
