DM worth £3 billion to Scots economy says report

A new report commissioned by the DMA has revealed that direct mail is worth nearly £3billion to the Scottish economy.

The staggering figures were revealed in research compiled by the Future Foundation. The research was commissioned by the DMA to provide an assessment of the total value of the industry including expenditure, employment and sales.

It was found that the overall value of direct marketing to Scotland stands at £2.97billion, and that total employment in the direct marketing industry stands at 90,000, 3.7percent of employment in Scotland.

According to the wide-reaching report, the average Scottish business spends 67 percent of its direct marketing expenditure on consumer activities, while the rest is allocated to business-to-business spend.
