GMG Radio has appointed two new directors to run its two Smooth Radio stations in the East and West Midlands.

Samantha Fielding, currently director of Nottingham-based Let’s Talk Marketing, will become station director at Smooth Radio in the East Midlands on 22 October.

She said: “Smooth Radio provides a real opportunity for advertisers and listeners across the East Midlands, and I am looking forward to maximising both existing and new relationships in the marketplace”.

Andy Carter takes the position of managing director of Smooth Radio in the West Midlands immediately, after guiding Smooth Radio in London as MD for six months during its successful launch.

GMG Radio Group Operations Director Shaun Bowron said: “following a recent review of our Midlands operations, we decided that each Station needed a separate management focus and the appointment of Andy Carter with his GMG Radio experience and Samantha Fielding with her wide ranging commercial radio experience will bring exactly that.”

GMG acquired Saga Radio in February 2007 and rebranded it as Smooth Radio in March.
