Premier Publishing, the company behind the West End News and Southside News which launched in February, is to add to its stable with the launch of two new titles.

East End News and Northside News will launch in June and will take circulation for the four papers up to 120,000.

The papers will be monthly, with one published each week in the month.

Southside News will come out on week one, with West End News, East End News and then Northside News following.

Campbell Murdoch, the former Newsquest magazine publisher who is behind the venture, said he was confident of the move to a four-strong portfolio.

“We will have the whole of Glasgow,” he said. “The beauty of this is the only extra cost we have is for the paper and printing. Ten out of every 24 page issue will be shared copy but the rest of the editorial will be unique and written locally. At the end of the day, we are a Glasgow paper and these are monthly titles. We want to give the advertisers four hits.”

The folio of paper will match the circulation of the Daily Record & Sunday Mail’s The Glaswegian. Murdoch believes that Premier’s ability to fragment its advertising sales will give it the edge over its rival.

“The flexibility with us means that you can chose to run an ad in the Southside News; the Southside and West End News or all four. There needs to be flexibility.”

Premier Publishing has also invested in branded bins in high footfall areas.

The company has also bolstered its staff. Following a launch staff of 3 sales staff, it now employs 8 sales people, a designer and freelance designer, six freelance journality, a photographer, six distribution staff, a part time credit controller and a part time financial controller.

Murdoch also hinted additional launches but wouldn’t confirm on areas or dates for the proposed launches.
