Liz Hamilton, the sales and commercial director of Xfm Scotland – and one of the station’s original launch team – has been made redundant.

Hamilton oversaw the launch of the station in Scotland alongside marketing and operations director Stuart Duncan and programme controller Clare Pattenden when the station was rebranded from

Beat 106 in 2006.

The redundancy – thought to be the only casualty at the station – follows the appointment of former SMG sales and marketing director Alan Gibson, who was appointed as managing director of Xfm Scotland last month. Gibson’s 20 years’ experience is thought to be the reason that Hamilton’s role was no longer deemed necessary within the company.

An Xfm spokesperson said: “The decision was all to do with the change and the restructure that has taken place, and it was quite important for the company to have Alan brought in, which meant that everything had to be slightly moved around.

“It was felt that it would be best to put a managing director back up in Scotland to look after the GCap portfolio – which is predominantly Xfm – and because it is that bit further away from Manchester.”
