Big launches design arm with former stb chief

Big Communications and Bray Leino – both member agencies of The Mission Marketing Group – have announced the launch of new divisions within their respective businesses.

Leicester-based Big has hired Dean Stocks, co-founder of Stocks Taylor Benson, to head up Big Design - a new service specialising in packaging, literature, POS, corporate and brand identity and retail design.

The new division will operate separately, as the agency seeks to attract new business.

Stocks, who will assume the role of managing director, said: “There is enormous potential for a well resourced design consultancy and with the backing of an agency like Big Communications, Big Design will be in a position to deliver exceptional creative work from day one. It’s a real pleasure to be leading the development of Big Design because of an exciting period of growth for the company and the individuals who will be working within it.”

Joining Stocks to run the business is Louise Almond, formerly a senior designer at Leicester-based Checkland Kindleysides.

Big CEO Phil Wright, said: “Dean and Louise have extensive experience in a number of sectors including banking, toys, fashion, leisure, garden care, retail and business to business. This experience will form the back bone to their strategy to win direct clients and firmly place Big Design in the UK’s Top 50 design table within two years.”

Meanwhile.Bray Leino has acquired internet solutions company The Driver Is in a move that will see the launch of Bray Leino Digital. The operation will offer online brand development strategy, design, build, hosting, search engine optimisation, online marketing, e-learning, CD-Rom development and campaign management.

The new division’s joint client list will include Smith & Nephew, AMEC, EA Games, Wrigley, Superdrug, Highways Agency, and BT.
