A former Scotsman managing director has been appointed to the role of managing director of News International Scotland, following the announcement of Colin McClatchie's resignation earlier this week.

Steven Walker, who left The Scotsman early last year following its takeover by Johnston Press, has been lined-up for the top role.

While McClatchie oversaw both the Scottish and Irish operations for the media group, Walker will be tasked with the Scottish arm alone.

McClatchie, has occupied the role since 2004. His resignation was announced in an email to staff. It revealed that he will step-down at the end of the month.
