The 2007 IPA Effectiveness Awards for agencies with incomes up to £20m are to be launched to Scottish agencies at special events in Edinburgh and Glasgow on 14 November 2006, with the Awards to be held in Edinburgh on 13 November 2007.

Lord Gordon of Strathblaine, the Chairman of RAJAR, will Chair the Awards which reward communication campaigns that prove their return on investment.

This Scottish emphasis marks the merger of the Scottish IPA Effectiveness Awards into the IPA Effectiveness Awards for agencies with incomes up to £20m, to create a biennial UK competition with a national recognition of excellence in effectiveness.

The award for Scottish Effectiveness Agency of the Year remains.

Gary Wise, Head of Strategy at Feather Brooksbank, has been nominated as the Scottish representative of the IPA’s Value of Advertising Group, which promotes the evaluation of effectiveness, partly via the IPA Effectiveness Awards.

Wise said: “We have a forward thinking and talented advertising community here in Scotland, so it's only right that we should be competing on a national level. The fact that the IPA have decided to hold the industry's most prestigious event up here is a compliment to us and a great move for them. The IPA have made a concerted effort to ensure that all advertising disciplines are represented, so we'll hopefully see a greater number of entries from media, PR, marketing and promotions agencies as well as from advertising agencies and clients.”

Phil Adams, Scottish IPA chairman added: "Scottish agencies did well in the 2005 competition in Belfast, winning eight out of the 33 awards given out on the night. Hopefully playing at home in 2007 will give us the impetus to build on that performance and to demonstrate - again - the depth of talent on offer up here.”

To ensure Scottish agencies are aware of the changes and well represented at the Awards Hamish Pringle, Director General of the IPA is running two ‘How to write an effectiveness paper’ briefings at Malmaison, Edinburgh from 8.30am – 10am and at The Hallion, Glasgow from 6pm – 7.30pm on 14th November 2006.
