David Huckell has been promoted to the role of creative director at Hookson following a sustained run of new business at the Edinburgh-based consultancy.

Since establishing the consultancy in July 2001, Bryan Hook has assumed the dual role of managing and creative director. However, after numerous client wins over the past few months, a strategic decision was taken to appoint a dedicated creative director for the agency.

Huckell has been promoted to the new role of creative director and joins the Hookson board with immediate effect, having previously held the role of senior designer at the agency. Before joining Hookson, Huckell was previously a designer at rival studio Redpath.

Furthermore, Hookson has also appointed Justin Hutton-Penman, who will join the team at the end of April to increase the agency’s brand strategy offering.

Hutton-Penman joins from Whyte and Mackay, where he was responsible for managing the brand development of the company’s premium drinks brands nationally and internationally.

Meanwhile, Hookson has been retained by Lauder College and the high-profile Scottish Ambulance Service annual report to work on the accounts, having previously worked with both clients.
