Dave Mullen, creative director of Story and leading photographer Dave Boni, have launched a limited edition book and photographic exhibition entitled ‘Extinguished’.

The exhibition was launched at the Edinburgh College of Art - with around 100 images unveiled ahead of the 26 March ban.

‘Extinguished’ aims to highlight the lighter side of the political debate on smoking by visually chronicling the demise of the ashtray in pubs and public areas with an exquisitely produced book the size of an ashtray.

The 120 page collector’s book and photographic exhibition depicts ashtrays found in various pubs in Scotland which will soon become Scottish memorabilia, artefacts of Scottish social history.

The exhibition will be open to the public later, travelling throughout Scotland exhibiting in various public sites, and although it’s not a commercial project there will be an opportunity for the public to purchase the book or images printed on canvas.

A web site extinguished-2006.com is currently under construction.
