Talk 107, the new speech radio station to be launched in Edinburgh, has hired Hilary Douglas, the former Business AM ad manager, as its sales director.

Douglas – who has never worked in radio sales – has been advertising manager at Scottish Field since the closure of the Scottish business daily three years ago. She worked on Business AM from its launch in September 2000.

Talking about her appointment, Douglas told The Drum: “Being at the forefront of a new format is very daunting but also exciting. We are in the process of hiring a sales team and moving into our new offices. My job initially is to get a sales team on board, so that is my priority. I enjoy being able to have input into a launch, and that you’re not walking into a company where everything is set in stone.”

Prior to Business AM, she was group head of advertising sales at News International, where she spent two years.
