Macromedia, the US giant that developed Flash – one of the key software applications of the last decade – has bought Iteration:2, an Edinburgh-based consultancy which specialises in Rich Internet Applications.

Iteration:2 will be rebranded as Macromedia Consulting EMEA and its co-founders, Steven Webster and Alistair McLeod, will become practice directors.

The pair – with Peter Lelliott, regional managing director of Macromedia Consulting EMEA – will lead the company’s development across Europe, the Middle EAST and Asia.

Webster and McLeod specialised in developing user interfaces for complicated transactions on websites. A recent project for Intelligent Finance – where Iteration:2 developed an online calculator to explain off-set mortgages – saw transactions rise by 15%.

Iteration:2 was launched in 2001.
