Locofoco has created a prototype for the world’s first psychological first-aid kit.

The consultancy was commissioned to the task by the International Futures Forum, an international think-tank which consists of a number of UK doctors as well as representatives from Berkeley, Columbia and Stanford universities in the US.

The project has been inspired by the number of recent disasters in recent years, from 9/11 to last year’s Tsunami, the London bombings and Hurricane Katrina and addresses a need for psychological aid in the aftermath of these types of events.

The kit itself is made of fine muslin, hemp silk and hessian and is designed so that it can be manufactured within whichever community it is needed. It contains a small mat for exercises, a small pillow, some small books, candles and oils.
