Four Midlands-based agencies will pitch for the Cadbury World above-the-line account later this month, Adline can reveal.

While the four agencies have not been named, it is believed that Rees Bradley Hepburn, WAA, Unsuitable, and incumbent, Palmer Hargreaves Wallis Tomlinson, make up the list.

Speaking to Adline, Cadbury World’s marketing director, Colin Samways, confirmed: “Yes, it is true that Cadbury World is in the process of holding a pitch for its above-the-line business. There are three agencies, plus the incumbent Palmer Hargreaves Wallis Tomlinson, involved in the process.

“The pitching agencies were chosen from a list of six agencies that were selected to present credentials. Proceedings have taken place over August and the agencies will be presenting in early September. I wish them all the best of luck.”

The activity will focus heavily on radio advertising, although trade and consumer press advertising will also feature. Explaining the firm’s decision to take the account to pitch, Samways, said: “The reason we decided to review is because this account has been with PHWT for five years and for a company like Cadbury World, it’s important to keep our toes in the water.”

Samways has revealed that despite interest from agencies in other parts of the UK, he is completely happy with agencies based in the Midlands area. “I have always promoted the local scene. When I get calls from agencies saying they’re in London and asking if they can work for us, I tell them no, because there are plenty of agencies in the Midlands.\"
