Glorious changes for Mat: Designers after teaming up with EN editor

Manchester-based Mat: Designers have announced that it is to rebrand as Glorious Creative following the announcement that the editor of Manchester-based entrepreneur magazine, EN, Scott McCubbin has joined the agency.

The agency – which won the One to Watch Award in the Robert Horne North of England Design Lunch Awards earlier this year – will see McCubbin join Glorious Creative as an equal business partner working with the original founders and creative director of Mat: Designers, directors Mark Ross and Tom Shaughnessy. Mat: Designers had previously worked with McCubbin two years ago on the redesign of EN.

The change of name also coincides with the agency opening an office in Liverpool to consolidate on its Manchester offices offering.

Commenting on the changes, McCubbin indicated that his role would be within a business development and new business offering.

He said: “We have some exciting plans and a different approach. As the winner of the Adline Ones to Watch Award in April demonstrates, Mark and Tom are highly rated among their peers. Creatively they are second to none. My job is to make sure that companies are made aware of this.”

McCubbin added: “The area is booming. There are some excellent, entrepreneurial businesses out there and we feel we can make a real contribution to their bottom line.”

Fellow director, Ross added: “We’ve known each other for more than two years, but it was only last December that it became clear that this was a viable proposition.”

McCubbin started working with the agency from the beginning of this month.
