Viacom Outdoor has been awarded the First Group rail poster advertising contract.

Previously held by Maiden, the First Group deal is worth £9m over five years and awards Viacom Outdoor the rights to sell all outdoor poster formats on all stations owned and operated by First Group train operating companies in the UK.

This deal gives Viacom Outdoor the advertising on FGW Link (formally Thames Trains), covering key commuter stations such as Oxford, Maidenhead and Slough, and TransPennine Express, which includes Middlesbrough station, Hull and Manchester Airport.

Under the terms of the deal, Viacom Outdoor will also run the advertising on other rail routes that First Group acquires, adding ScotRail from 17 October (stations include Aberdeen and Glasgow Queen Street).

This is Viacom Outdoor’s fifth major rail contract secured in the last six months and doubles its proposition in the rail market.
