PR Consultancy Spence Allan has appointed the former assistant editor of Business a.m. to fill the vacancy left by the recent departure of Mary Jo Devlin.

Joining the company at the end of this month, when she will have completed her contract as editor of the Edinburgh Festival’s Magazine, is Aileen Easton, who has also previously held positions such as features editor at both the Daily Record and the Scotsman. As a freelance journalist Easton was also a contributing editor of women’s magazine Closer.

Speaking of the appointment, Don Spence, chief executive of Spence Allan, said: “We were delighted with the calibre of applicant we had as a whole. However, Aileen was outstanding. We decided from the outset that the vacancy created an opportunity to bring on board new skills and contacts. She delivers these in abundance and will make a major contribution to the business in a very short time.”

Easton added: “This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic company and work with a talented team.”
