Radisson and Rockstar are big design winners

More than 450 people packed into Glasgow’s Holiday Inn last Friday to see Rockstar North’s innovative website and Gordon Murray + Alan Dunlop’s Radisson SAS Hotels scoop the Grand Prix awards at the Scottish Design Awards 2003.

Presenting the Graphic Design Grand Prix on the night was chairman of the judges Aziz Cami of The Partners, who gave his Chairman’s Award to Graphic Partners for its bottle designs for Waverley Wines & Spirits.

Chairman of the architecture judging panel, Sir Richard MacCormac of MacCormac, Jamieson Prichard, awarded his Chairman’s Award to Page & Park Architects for their work on the Maggie’s Centre.

Continuing his run of success from last year, Malcolm Fraser retained the title of Architect of the Year, while Karen Nugent of Page and Park was crowned Young Architect of the Year.

Scooping the Designer of the Year accolade this year was Helen Johnston of newton.eh6, while Young Designer went to Sarah Cassells of Redpath.
