direct approach: could 1576 be set to share its Direct Holiday business?

As The Drum was going to press, Direct Holidays, the Scottish direct tour operator, was preparing to announce the result of its advertising agency review.

Sources within the industry speculated that the business could be split across two agencies, with one being the incumbent on the account, Edinburgh’s 1576.

When approached on the magazine’s deadline, a Direct Holidays spokesperson said: “We are reviewing the account and we haven’t appointed anyone as yet. We’re still going through the process but we haven’t made a final decision yet.”

The spokesperson refused to comment on what the final agency names on the review were, but did state that the list had been shortened to five companies.

Direct Holidays is the market-leading direct sell tour operator in the UK and Ireland. It has travel centres in 16 cities and offers flights from 24.

1576 has handled the Direct Holidays advertising account since 1998 and has produced a number of award-winning campaigns for the company.
