Asics, the Warrington-based sports and running brand, is looking to use PR as a key marketing solution following the appointment of marketing manager Andrew Freeman.

The firm, which sponsors international athletic stars such as Jonathan Edwards and Ashia Hansen, has appointed Manchester’s Brazen as its first retained PR agency for several years. The consultancy will now aim to build the brand in the UK as well as ensuring it becomes associated with sports disciplines outside its core running market.

Asics sub-brand Onitsuka Tiger, the late Bruce Lee’s favourite footwear maker, will also be looking to Brazen for PR support.

The Juice Corporation, the firm behind Joe Bloggs, and Hamnett also appointed Brazen last month.
