Dowcarter has been appointed by the Chip and PIN programme, the biggest consumer project in the UK since decimalisation.

The agency was selected by the Chip and PIN programme management organisation – which is led by representatives from major UK banks and retailers – to develop and manage the programme’s online communications for the next two years.

The programme means that, instead of signing a paper receipt when you buy goods or services in a shop, restaurant or other retail outlet, you will authorise payment by keying a Personal Identification Number (PIN) into a terminal.

Over the next two years the aim and focus of the project will change as the programme develops and rollout nears completion. The programme will trial in Northampton in Spring this year.
