Elmwood chairman Jonanthan Sands has offered to spearhead a pitch for Manchester new boys Love in order to prove that agencies can demand a pitch fee and still win the business.

The gauntlet was thrown down by Sands to one of Love’s founders, Dave Palmer, during a debate at the second meeting of the Marketeer Association. The members in attendance were airing their views on free speculative pitching, something which Sands says he does not do. Palmer insisted that agencies looking to establish themselves in the marketplace need to free pitch to get noticed by clients.

Sands hit back saying: “If that is the case then I will come and do a pitch for Love and I promise you that I will win the business and get a fee for pitching.”

When approached after the debate Sands stood by what he said and has offered his services to Love.
