Traffic: driving for growth.

A former senior creative at BD-TANK and KLP Euro RSCG has launched his own design consultancy, which he says will be taking on the big boys of Scottish design within twelve months.

Scott Witham, who left Glasgow's BD-TANK last September, is striking out with his business partner David Thornton, launching Traffic Design Consultants in Glasgow.

Witham, who during his time at TANK and KLP worked on packaging for Tennents, Reef and Hooch, has been working towards the launch for the last five months, assisting Thornton in the financial backing of the new company by working freelance for companies such as BD-TANK, IMP and Draftworldwide. Already Witham and Thornton have picked up a raft of clients including Pentranic, Redhurst Hotel, Urban Moves, Crown Press, Tollcross Housing Association, Direct Line Financial Services and Lombard Direct and the Glasgow Education Business Partnership.

The agency launched on 4 March and during its first week of trading Witham said that they secured a piece of business which would double their projections for the first year, but he was unable to name the client.

Witham said: "This is something I have wanted to do for a long time now. I guess I got a bit hacked off doing good work for good clients during my time at TANK and KLP, but never really getting the recognition I deserved. I want Traffic to sit somewhere between BD-TANK and 999 Design. We do not want to be really trendy, but by the same score we don't want to be boring either. I love the work TANK and 999 do, so we aim to pitch ourselves at that level and make some waves amongst the big boys."

Thornton comes to the company with 17 years' experience of the print industry and he will be responsible for new business at the consultancy.
