Quartz names Sam Grobart as editor for premium journalism
Commencing today, the role will see Grobart lead the publisher’s newsroom expedition force in New York to set the agenda for the type of content available for Quartz members who sign up for its pending subscription service.
Tasked with generating creative and compelling content to drive subscriptions, Grobart will bring to bear his own expertise in business and technology journalism gleaned from time spent as executive editor for technology coverage at CNN.
Before that Grobart served as a senior correspondent for Bloomberg Businessweek, in tandem with time spent as managing editor of Bloomberg digital videos. During this period Grobart also worked as a co-host of a weekly Bloomberg Television program.
A varied career has also seen Grobart serve as personal technology editor at The New York Times and has been both a writer and editor at the Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, Esquire, and Money.
Earlier this summer Quartz was acquired by Japanese media firm Uzabase.
