Design Research Studio
Tom Dixon is a self-taught British designer and the current creative director of the Tom Dixon brand specialising in lighting, furniture and accessories.
Dixon rose to fame in the mid-80s and by the late 80s was working with Cappellini for whom he designed the iconic ‘S’ chair. In the 90s Dixon continued to innovate with ‘Jack’, his polypropylene ‘sitting, stacking, lighting thing’ designed for his own company Eurolounge.
In 1998 he joined Habitat as head of design later becoming creative director until 2008. In 2002 Dixon established his own brand under the name of Tom Dixon launching collections of lighting and furniture bi-annually at the Milan International Furniture Fair and at London Design Festival. In 2007 he launched Design Research Studio, an interior and architecture design studio.
