Ogilvy & Mather

A man who needs little introduction, Rory Sutherland is one of the most influential and outspoken figures in the creative industry. After soon tiring of his first job as a classics teacher, he applied to various agencies in early 1988 before getting his foot in the door at Ogilvy & Mather Direct, from where he’s never looked back. He says he’s been lucky in three respects: “Starting in direct marketing not advertising. First using the internet in 1987. Stumbling upon behavioural economics.” Today he’s the Ogilvy ‘lifer’ who has held just about every role of significance in the agency and whose agenda setting views are routinely espoused in an entertaining Spectator column.
