In 1985 Sir Martin Sorrell founded
WPP, one of the world’s leading
advertising and marketing services
groups, and has been chief executive
throughout. The group employs
more than 179,000 people, including
associates, in more than 3,000
offices in 110 countries worldwide.
In 2013 digital accounted for almost
35 per cent of WPP’s revenues,
which the company forecast will
increase to 40 to 45 per cent within
the next five years. WPP was also
named Holding Company of the
Year at the Cannes Lions International
Festival of Creativity for three
years in a row, and for two straight
years was named the Most Effective
Holding Company in the Effie
Index. Sorrell is a non-executive
director of Formula One and
Alcoa Inc.
