Viral owl tweet sends internet into a flap
A Montreal traffic camera has become an internet sensation after it attracted the interest of a passing snowy owl in need of a perch to land on.
Footage captured by the camera on its approach shows the bird soaring toward its target against a backdrop of a storm hit Montreal motorway on 3 January and has since taken the internet by storm after Quebec’s transport minister shared the snaps on Facebook and Twitter.
Snowy owls are a particularly revered species in Quebec where the animal is an official state symbol and protected from hunters.
Robert Poeti’s original tweet of the footage has now garnered over 1.4k retweets.
