A web tool which enlists over-the-top 3D animated mountains to give a booming voice to the tweets from social media users who utilise the hashtag #Mouthness has been released by Goo Technologies.

Mountains of Mouthness juxtaposes the eternal nature of the mountains with the fleeting and often silly nature of tweets, striking up an amusing contrast, likely what caused the tool to do the rounds on social media.

Magnus Östergren, creative director of the plug-in, handled the concept and design of the Mountains and Goo Technologies built it from the ground-up in three weeks.

The concept was based upon a fairytale featuring two mountains, separated by a village, who are deeply in love with each other. Eventually the mountains deafen the villagers with their incessant proclamations of love.

Östergren, told The Drum that the tool toyed with the idea that mother nature will outlast mankind, he said: “We started with a WebGL game engine and decided to build a tool that could be gaming interactive and mix that with animation and motion graphics to make something for the next generation of web graphics.

“We’re aiming to build the most artist friendly tool for advanced interactive web graphics out there.”
